Today our students dressed in mis-matched clothes for Dr. Seuss's My Many Colored Days. This is a fabulous book that I would recommend to all of you. It is about feelings and how colors are associated with them! Yellow is often thought of as a cheerful color while blue is often thought of as sad. These are just a couple of examples. I encourage you to pick up the book at the public library or your local Borders Book Store (Barnes & Noble doesn't have any in stock)!
We began our day working with rhyming words and creating word families on our Cat hats! Later in the day we read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and students wrote their own rhyming sentences! They continue to amaze me each and every day! Before leaving for P.E., we colored a bookmark (see below) and water-colored our own body which we'll write about tomorrow! All in all, it was another great day for Reading Across America!
